Use your arrow keys or swipe to move the tiles. Tiles with the same number merge into one when they touch. Add them up to reach 2048!
Rules Of The Game
Game Board: The game is played on a 4x4 grid.
Seed Tiles: Each game begins with two seed tiles, each contingent upon whether the game begins as a 2 or a 4.
How to play: Use your arrow keys to move the tiles. Swipe with your fingers to move the tiles:
Up Arrow: Move tiles up.
Down Arrow: Moves tiles down.
Left Arrow: Moves tiles left.
Right Arrow: Slide tiles to the right.
Merge Tiles: Tiles of the same number collide with each other during their movement across the board to create a tile with a sum of the two numbers (2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8, etc.).
New Tiles: A 2 or a 4 tile spawns into an empty space on the board after every move.
Victory: Get the 2048 tile on the 4x4 board.
Loss: The game ends when the board is full and there are no valid moves left.
Strategies for Success
Keep the Top Tile in a Corner: Make an effort to keep your top tile in one of the corners and build the rest of your tiles around this one. This allows you to organize the board and arrange a potential combination.
Do Not Touch the Highest Tile: Once you have your highest tile in a corner, you should never slide it out unless you have no other option.
Build up Prematurely: At this stage, focus on more suppression of tiles (in either left or down direction). This will help to keep the board in control and stop dispersing high-valued tiles.
Plan Ahead: Have a look at the board and plan your moves that will assist you in combining and opening up more tiles and wider spaces.
Tricks
Merge Smaller Tiles First: Make sure to merge tiles which are of smaller size to open spaces for achieving more moves.
Save Open Spaces: As much as possible, save spaces so that you can keep making moves even though the tiles are starting to clog up.
Keep it Cool: A cool head is needed when moving through 2048. Don’t rush your moves.
